The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research & Creative Activities (ORCA) UCLA Faculty Research Lecturers for the 2025-26 academic year: 139th Faculty Research Lecture: Peter Lunenfeld
The annual Faculty Research Lectures recognizes Academic Senate members with records of exceptional achievement in research and/or creative activities. The lecture format provides the recipients a platform to share their scholarship broadly with faculty, students, and the UCLA community. The award is a recognition of the importance of the wide dissemination of the often life-saving and/or life-changing knowledge generated by UCLA faculty, which improves lives through education, service, and innovation and has an impact that extends far beyond our campus in Los Angeles. In this pivotal moment, we look forward to recognizing Professors Lunenfeld's respective contributions, which have been instrumental in these pursuits and in supporting higher education’s broader mission. Join Professor Lunenfeld as he traces the city’s path from 1953 Hollywood to the street-roaming robots of today, and onward to an AI-shaped future.
Professor Lunenfeld’s lecture, “Future Street: Los Angeles in the Era of Artificial Intelligence,” will be held:
Date: Friday, October 31, 2025
Time: 2:00 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.
